Preparatory School

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32. The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.

British Education

Britain’s educational system is considered to be the strongest and most prestigious education a student could attain. Britain’s rich culture, economic status and overall global influence creates the perfect environment for students to gain a competitive edge and stand out from everyone else. They nurture creative and effective decision-making skills, build confidence and develop fantastic interpersonal skills all of these traits are highly sought-after by employers. We work with the most distinguished schools and universities in the UK to mentor students to fulfil their potential.

The System

The English education system is divided into Foundation Stage (ages 3–5), Preparatory education (ages 5–11), Senior education (ages 11–18) and Further education (ages 18+).

During Preparatory school, students study a range subjects such as Mathematics, English, Geography, History and many others. Preparatory school’s look to develop a students creative mentality and help them to develop a basic understanding of the world they live in. On average students will study 12 subjects during Secondary school and obtain a GCSE in each. This allows the students to begin specialising in subjects such as computer science, languages and economics giving the students a more in-depth understanding of the subjects. It is important to identify a students talent and passion at this stage. We work closely with students from this age range so students can specialise in the subjects that appeal most to them and we can make a conscious decision to further their education. Typically students go on to study A-level qualifications, or for some students, to other qualifications such as BTEC, IB and Cambridge Pre-U. Whichever qualification you choose to pursue you will be studying fewer subjects on average 4 in far greater detail and they will have an impact on what university and course you can study in the future.Higher education often begins with a three year to four-year bachelor’s degree. Postgraduate degrees include master’s degrees, either taught or by research, and the doctorate, a research degree that usually takes at least three years. What We OfferWe use a personal approach that centres on developing a bespoke strategy for your family. Each child has different requirements and we see to it that all tailoring is made. The process involves:

  • An informal interview with the child (either over Skype or one-to-one)
  • Measuring their English Language ability
  • Finding out about the student’s strengths and interests.
  • Offering guidance as to which school will suit the student.
  • Attend school’s open days
  • Prepare for and secure school interviews
  • Assess the student and recommend programmes of private tuition to ensure the best chance of high grades and successful entry.
