The below list is compiled according to the university league tables provided by The Guardian newspaper. The Guardian compiles its league tables by considering the career prospects, quality of teaching offered by and student satisfaction with a university.

Cambridge

The University of Cambridge has been ranked no. 1 amongst British universities in both 2016 and 2015.

Cambridge is well regarded for its high tutor to student ratio. Students’ tutorials with professors, known as Dons, are often on a one-to-one basis. Cambridge professors are amongst the finest scholars in their chosen fields and students attending the university have the chance to learn from the very academics that have written their textbooks.

Cambridge provides academic excellence in a range of arts, humanities and sciences subjects and has been ranked within the top 10 universities in the UK in courses such as Medicine, History and Law.

The University of Cambridge is comprised of thirty-one colleges. Students choose a particular college to apply to that then becomes the place where they live and socialise during undergraduate life.

St. Andrews

 St. Andrews University has been ranked no. 3 amongst British universities in both 2016 and 2015.

St. Andrews has been classified as one of the top 10 universities in the UK for a range of humanities and science subjects, including Medicine, Psychology and History.

Durham

 The university of Durham has been ranked as no. 6 amongst British universities in 2016 and no. 8 in 2015.

Durham is a research-led institution and globally recognised for the academic excellence of its teaching staff and students. It has been ranked amongst the top 10 universities in the UK for a variety of subjects including Law, History and English.

The university of Durham has a collegiate system similar to that of Oxford and Cambridge, where students live and socialise. However students typically select their college following, rather than prior to, their application.

Warwick

 The university of Warwick has been ranked no. 7 amongst British universities in 2015 and no. 9 in 2015.

Warwick is known for its progressive outlook towards academia, as well as the quality of its teaching and its research excellence. It has been classified as one of the top 10 universities in the UK for humanities and science subjects such as History and Accounting & Finance.

Warwick is located in Coventry in the West Midlands. It is within easy travelling distance of major cities such as London.

Imperial College

 Imperial College has been ranked as no. 8 amongst British universities in 2016 and no. 5 in 2015.

Imperial College is part of the “Golden Triangle” of British universities and a global leader in the fields of science and technology. It specialises in science-based subjects and offers professionally accredited degrees in science and engineering subjects. This is especially important for students seeking employment in the UK in professions such as engineering that require accreditation.
